Crying in the rain

Men don’t cry.  It’s some sort of law.  You don’t cry when you get hit in the face.  You don’t cry when you get dumped.  You don’t cry during BigHero6.  And you definitely don’t cry when your laptop is stolen.

Even if you remember something you’ve lost every ten minutes.  And you play the “Only if” game every 10 seconds. Why didn’t you save your documents on the network drive?  One click.  Fuck.

But you didn’t.  It’s gone.  Everything.  And that makes you want to cry.  But you can’t cry. Because people didn’t die.

So I’m hoping for rain so that I can hide my tears whilst Crying in the rain as performed by A-ha.

PS – I cried through all of the above.

Rain

Woke up in Auckland after arriving at an ungodly hour earlier this morning.  (The pleasures of international travel.)  Fortunately I only had a three hour lay over in Sydney.  I’m confused as to what day it actually is, considering the fact that I lost 10 hours.  Or did I gain 10? (See what I mean)

Basically the time difference allows me to be awake when the Wife is asleep and visa versa.  Communication is wonderful especially considering that one of us will always be waking up at the time of the call. And we all know how chirpy I can be in the mornings.

Weather in Auckland sucks.  It’s like the Southern hemisphere’s version of England.  It’s cold and cloudy and it rains.  Non-stop.  And not torrential downpour, for that would mean it has to stop at some point.  No this is a fine, continuous drizzle that will soak you right to the bone.

Here’s to rain and more Rain as sung by Madonna.

Crying in the rain

Don’t worry, this is not a revelation of my own emotional state, well maybe it is, if this song evokes a melancholy mood in the listener. After a long weekend I’m not really in the mood for anything, especially not work.  Even though I am at said place.

The radio seems to share my opinion, showcasing a collection of some of the most relaxed tunes in living memory.  This song has always been a favourite of mine, as I associate with the lyrics, knowing I’m also the type of person who will hide my heartache from the perpetrator.
