The Ludlows (Legends of the fall)

In continuing me celebrating the memory of James Horner, I decided to post one of my favourite compositions he did from a somewhat famous movie.

It’s an oldish movie from a few decades ago.  And this one should not be confused with the other one where Brad Pitt is standing in a river with thigh high boots, attempting to fly-fish.  No, this is Legends of the Fall.  Or as per words of Wikipedia:

“Legends of the Fall is a 1994 American epic drama film directed by Edward Zwick and starring Brad Pitt, Anthony Hopkins, Aidan Quinn, Julia Ormond and Henry Thomas. Based on the 1979 novella of the same title by Jim Harrison, the film is about three brothers and their father living in the remote wilderness of the early 20th century and how their lives are affected by nature, history, war and love. The film’s time frame spans the decade before World War I through the Prohibition era, and into the 1930s, ending with a brief scene set in 1963.”

Anyhow, here goes a piece called The Ludlows from the movie LEGENDS OF THE FALL as composed by James Horner.

I loved that movie. The musical scores can add so much to a film. James Horner certainly had a gift for that.

There were quite a few sprawling epics back then. Don’t recall a lot of them in this decade? And the scores were amazing.
